Torsten Kriening is Publisher and CEO of SpaceWatch.Global, an independent platform reporting on space activities in their geopolitical context. Founded in the Middle East and rebuilt in Berlin, it publishes in English for a professional readership in Europe, the Gulf, Asia and North America for over a decade.
His route into space ran through the machines. He trained as an electrician, then as a telecommunications engineer, and holds a Dipl.-Ing. from Berlin. Two decades in satellite communications and broadcast technology followed - 3Com, Lucent Digital Video, SES in Luxembourg, a Bertelsmann media-technology company - before he joined the lunar exploration venture PTScientists as Chief Business Officer. An Executive MBA from the International Space University in Strasbourg followed.
He created the Space Café series - talks, podcast and Space Café Radio - which grew from a Berlin evening format into a programme running in more than twenty countries. He writes The Kriening Brief, his own running commentary on the sector, and reports on space for Space.Table in Berlin. He moderates panels, fireside chats and keynote programmes at space and defence events across the world.
He is a Berliner, which he considers relevant context for how he asks questions.
