Lieutenant General PJS Pannu, is the former Deputy Chief of Indian Integrated Defence Staff.
He, an alumni of the Defence Services Staff College Wellington is holder of M.Sc (Defence Studies) degree. He also has two M.Phils from Army War College and National Defence College, Delhi. He is Ph.D. in Business Management with his thesis on Indigenisation of Defence Industry. He is certified as the National Cyber Scholar.
He has an immense experience in Military Operations with three tenures in the Apex level Military Operations Branch of Army Head Quarters. As the Director Perspective Planning, he dealt with the Budgets, future Plans and the Force Structuring of the Armed Forces.
He has also served in two foreign missions in a multi-national environment under the United Nations in Mozambique and Sudan.
As Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, he was entrusted with a distinguished task of the raising of three premiere defence agencies; Defence Space Agency (DSA), Defence Cyber Agency (DCyA) and the Armed Forces Special Operations Division (AFSOD). He holds three presidential awards of PVSM, AVSM and VSM.
He is a senior advisor to Satcom Industries Association (India) and Chairman of the Space Defence Committee at SIA. He is a distinguished fellow at Centre for Land warfare Studies (CLAWS), a premier Military Think Tank, where he holds a chair of Excellence for research on Military Space Studies.
He is Chief Mentor, Dean and head of Department of Space Studies at MERI Group of Institutions, New Delhi. He is also the founder of Space Club of India.
He has authored a couple of books. The latest being ‘TARAMANDAL SANGRAM’ (Space Constellations at War). He is a regular publisher of articles and columns in leading newspapers and speaks at various forums on geo-politics, technology and strategy.
