LTC Jan Bártek is an officer of the Czech Armed Forces. He entered military service in 2001 through the University of Defence in Brno and graduated in 2006. Following graduation, he served over a decade as a geospatial officer within the military geospatial and hydrometeorological service, holding a variety of positions. In 2011, he was deployed to Kosovo for six months as a geospatial officer in support of the KFOR mission. From 2017 to 2020, he was posted at the Intelligence Directorate of the EU Military Staff in Brussels, Belgium. Between 2020 and 2023, he worked in the Intelligence Support Division under the General Staff of the Czech Armed Forces, specializing in space-related activities and ISR development areas. From 2023 until the summer of 2026, he was assigned to the NATO Space Centre of Excellence in Toulouse, France, where he served as a Subject Matter Expert in the Doctrine and Standardization Division. Since 2026, he has been serving in the Capability Planning Division of the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic.
