Dr Frey became fascinated with the topic of Space during his MSc in Mechanical Engineering at ETH Zurich, where he developed optical pointing strategies to find lost satellites from space-based observers. This led him to join the Space Debris Office of the European Space Agency, where he studied the adherence of various space actors with the Space Debris Mitigation Guidelines and became an advocate for a sustainable use of Outer Space. He further strengthened his expertise in the domain as a PhD candidate at the Politecnico di Milano, studying orbital fragmentations and their effects on neighbouring satellites. Knowing about the challenges of space operations and the lack of space surveillance data, he joined forces with his co-founders to build Vyoma. As managing director of Vyoma, he applies his knowledge to work towards a solution to ensure safe access to space – today, and for future generations.
