Brig Gen Christopher “Trigger” Fernengel is the Commander, U.S. Space Forces in Europe and Space Forces Africa, Ramstein Air Base, Germany. SPACEFOREUR-AF plans, coordinates, supports, and conducts employment of space operations across the full range of military operations, including security cooperation, in support of U.S. European Command and U.S. Africa Command objectives.
Brig Gen Fernengel received his commission from Ohio University ROTC program in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. His career includes assignments as a space operator, instructor, tactician, joint planner, joint strategist, 3-star speechwriter and Operational Capability Requirements Director for Headquarters Space Force. He deployed to Afghanistan during operations Resolute Support and Freedom’s Sentinel as an expeditionary squadron commander. He has also commanded the Squadron and Delta levels.
Prior to his current assignment, Brig Gen Fernengel was the Director, Plans and Programs, Office of the Deputy Chief of Space Operations for Strategy, Plans, Programs and Requirements, Headquarters Space Force, the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia. As Resourcing Lead, he was responsible for executing U.S. Space Force programs across the Future Years Defense Plan and the Program Objective Memorandum.
