Lukas Bittner works at the Military Strategy Division of the Federal Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Austria. In his current position, he is dealing with topics such as Hybrid Threats, Critical Infrastructure Protection, Cyber-Defence, Climate Change, Cognitive Warfare and Future Warfare Concept Development. Since 2019, he has lectured on various occasions, mainly in the framework of European Security and Defence College (ESDC), the Austrian Theresian Military Academy and the National Defence Academy. In 2013, he started his career in the Ministry of Defence/Defence Policy Division. Mr Bittner was the Austrian representative at the Steering Board of the Hybrid Center of Excellence for Coutering Hybrid Threats from 2019 to 2023. He holds academic degrees from the Austrian University of Vienna. Besides his civilian function, Mr Bittner was deployed abroad (e.g. EUFOR ALTHEA, KFOR). His research and publications focus on EU issues relating to security and defence and the Future of Warfare.
