Awarded with his fighter pilot wings in 1993, he flew on Mirage 2000 in 01.005 « Vendée »
flighter squadron in which he will be SPA26 flight commander. He was engaged in several
operations in which, between 1996 and 1997, Salamandre operation in Bosnia-Herzegovina, in
1998, Alysse operation in Saudi Arabia then between 1998 and 1999 Trident operation in Kosovo.
Qualified as a test pilot in 1999, he was assigned to French Navy as an exchange pilot on Rafale
F1. Between 2001 and 2003, he was deployed on French Carrier Charles de Gaulle, in Indian
ocean. In 2003, he followed the Joint Warfare College, after that he came back to as Rafale F2 Air
operational advance force chief on the air base of Mont-de-Marsan. In 2005, he was assigned as
Squadron Leader, EC 01.007 « Provence » and was engaged in Serpentaire operation (ISAF,
Afghanistan), in 2007, in Tadjikistan. He served three years in Air Force staff’s Operational
department, as the chief of combat and mobility section.
After attending the NATO Defence College in 2010, he joined the NATO French military
representation at Brussells as a planification expert . In 2013, he was appointed Chief of joint staff
for french forces in United Arab Emirates and was engaged, due to his functions in Chammal-OIR
operation between 2014 and 2015.
From 2015 to 2017, he was assigned to Air staff Program department in the Air Force staff before
taking the lead for two years. In 2019, he became deputy FCAS (Future Combat Air System)
project operational Chief before taking the lead the next year. In 2022, he took command of the
French Air Warfare Center in Mont-de-Marsan and in 2023, he was appointed deputy of Air and
Space Force Chief of Staff for Plans & Programs
Major General Vincent CHUSSEAU took command of the French Space Command on August 1st,
2025. He counts 2,808 flight hours and 88 combat missions.
